White gloves

After a large scale buying of votes during the elections to the Parliament, the dissatisfaction in society spread quickly and made the angry citizens to take some actions. October 2012, a public initiative called the White gloves appeared. It provided citizens with an opportunity to maintain the Parliament surveillance by leaving no ways to buy votes.

In the spontaneously organized event of the White gloves on 28th of October, 2012, around 700 citizens participated. They voluntarily observed the 34 electoral districts (out of 71). They recorded a few tens of violations and made the buying of votes and other unconscientious actions impossible.

After meeting the White gloves the President said: "Only our understanding of how to be a citizen can put a stop to the democracy that is bought. Transparent elections are the matter of every one of us. If you want a conscious authority, than you can not tolerate the buying of votes. Let’s unite and fight for Lithuania without political corruption". Magazine “Veidas” elected the citizens of the white gloves’ movement as the people of 2012.

Do you know that in the filed of corruption understanding Lithuania takes the 48th place out of 176 in the world? Do you know that the Lithuanian youth considers the conscious as one of the most important values in life? Do you agree that our future is in our hands?

The initiative is under the wardship of public organisation "Goodwill projects".

Do whatever you can and become a part of the White gloves!
