Non-governmental organization "Save the children" oversees almost 50 children's day care centers throughout Lithuania. Almost 900 children living in the country's poorer and almost 100 Ukrainian families who emigrated to Lithuania open their doors every day.
What does a daycare center give a child?
For some, it's a place to have that one hearty lunch a day. Another is to get help with homework. For the third child, it is a safe space to hang out and meet a group of like-minded friends. In the children's day center, music therapy, art classes, robotics or other groups are also held for children, and invited guests are welcomed with their stories to inspire them to wish, dream, believe and achieve their goals. Children go to educations, excursions to other cities of the country, participate in summer camps.
Heads of day care centers set themselves one goal - a day care center for children must first be associated with the family. One where they are safe, seen, heard. In which the change for the better, the transformation, would grow every day and feel more and more. This family includes not only the employees of day care centers and the children who visit them, but also their parents, relatives, and teachers. Everyone with whom the child communicates and who are necessary and important to him. The greatest gift is when a child approaches, hugs and sincerely admits that not only can he eat at the daycare center, but he also feels better here than at home.
“Our center is an all-round wonderful place. Here we are so friendly that we are like family. A teacher is the most wonderful we can have. You know, I'm not lying, she is our best friend, conversationalist and listener. We have a lot of paper, gouache, watercolor, we create and draw a lot. We even have a rest area - a sofa, on which, after doing all the homework, we sit down and talk. This is very important to me", - said one of the girls visiting the centa.
