Vilnius Residence for Infants with impaired development is currently taking care of 70 babies, and 24 of them have disability. Infants are taken into this healthcare institution when mothers strand them in the hospital right after birth. Most of the children in the Residence for Infants come from social risk families.
About the Residence for Infants. Vilnius Residence for Infants with impaired development was founded in 1966. The Residence for Infants is an institution of personal health care, located in Vilnius municipality, licensed to treat children’s diseases of secondary level and render early rehabilitation services to children from birth to four years of age, and to disabled children – up to seven years.
The Residence for Infants takes care of proper growth, development and improvement of the children. One more goal of the institution is to form early communication skills of the children, and to make sure they are successfully integrated into the society by finding foster parents, biological parents or relatives, so that they do not end up in state child care homes.
About the project. Although the Residence for Infants is funded by the government, this financing only covers salaries of the employees, food and medicine for the children. People of good will donate clothing, shoes and toys, but diapers are expensive, and the infants need huge amounts of them. Therefore, the goal of this project is to support Vilnius Residence for Infants by providing the diapers they need - 7000 diapers are needed per month!
The collected funds will be allocated to buy diapers for Vilnius Residence for Infants.
