The Baltic Sea ranks among the five most polluted seas in the world. However, by joining forces, we can contribute to the preservation of our sea!
9 months, 8 countries, ~6000 km – that's the plan awaiting the expedition, driven by the need for community and immediate actions to improve the condition of the sea. Every step is a story, a lesson, and an invitation to preserve the Baltic Sea for future generations.
The expedition leader, Giedrius Bučas, is the initiator of the 2020 sustainability march "For a Clean Lithuania" around our country and a recipient of the environmental award from President Valdas Adamkus. He will travel around the Baltic Sea with a team of 10–15 people. At stops organized for activities, scientists, government officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations, ecology activists, local communities will join, and anyone interested can join the march at various stages.
The expedition starts on March 11, 2024. From March to November, the expedition traveling through Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and Latvia will meet with communities and institutions, and at the end of the year, a documentary film will be presented.
The project's goal is to inform the public that the Baltic Sea is one of the five most polluted in the world and to call for a united effort to preserve it.
Once the necessary funds are collected, the expedition team will be able to cover the food and accommodation expenses for two weeks for 12 participants during the expedition.
We invite you to join in community!
