According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 150 million People all over the world suffer from visual impairment on a daily basis and cannot afford glasses. Children do not receive a quality education, adults cannot work and support their families. Have you ever wondered how your world would change if you had visual impairments and did not have access to glasses?
OneDollarGlasses wants to give these people a chance to live a full life, and we want to invite you to contribute!
One Dollar Eyewear isn’t just a resounding name - each pair of durable, customized glasses costs a little less than $ 1 to make. This ninth-year project is not a conventional charitable distribution - it is a sustainable and long-term investment in the community, creating jobs, training local staff to provide comprehensive, simple and financially sustainable ophthalmic care.
The project is only developed where it is needed most - in extremely poor countries or regions, where people often earns less than a dollar a day. The list of countries currently includes Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, India, Kenya, Malawi, Myanmar and Ethiopia. Every euro you donate will go to the newest project country - Colombia, the Boyaca region, where as many as 150 thousand people have visual impairments. Many of them are children, unfortunately most of whom do not have access to ophthalmic care or even the simplest glasses. The five euros donated to this project have magical powers, they will become a mini-miracle in one child's life - an opportunity to see the world better, learn and improve!
A common question is why contribute to a project outside of our country. We have complex problems in Lithuania, but at the same time many great people and resources to solve them. We have an advanced health care system that is accessible to all, which, unfortunately, cannot be boasted by adults and children in the Boyaca region of Colombia.
Each of your donations will contribute to a specific pair of glasses that will significantly change a child's life! It's great to make such a big change so easily - make a difference!
