Let's give Christmas to lonely seniors

Story from the visit of "Clowns on the Road":
We have arrived, to the lovely Danuta! When I saw her for the first time, I thought that I had never seen anything more modest and sweet. A small, sweet woman in a beautiful dress was sitting on her cot, the light of the day fell in the room, the large and wide space and the wooden walls framed her. It was as if I was looking at a living painting. And the eyes! Grandma looked at us with eyes like a miracle! I immediately came and took her hands, looking into each other's eyes with our foreheads pressed together. I said: "Hello dear, I'm Onutė, and she said to me: Hello, I'm Danutė." While chatting and joking, Danutė wanted us to sing a song, the text of which was woven into a curtain hanging on the wall. She says: Let's go! I will sing! It is only for us to take the song in small steps. Folk melodies flowed from the heart, and Danutė danced while holding hands! That day she floated in the air like milk fluff in a summer meadow. It was an endless joy.

Lonely seniors experience feelings of being useless, forgotten, feeling sad when they are stuck at home, and these emotions are even more acute during the festive period. During such experiences, the communication and laughter provided by doctor clown visits is very important. From the end of 2021, doctor clowns, with a special bus, travel to regions of the country to visit lonely seniors living in social isolation and on the margins of poverty.

The playful and theatrical interaction of doctor clowns has a therapeutic effect, which helps seniors to relax and wait for the visiting clowns, whom the seniors already call friends. Good emotions inhibit the production of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. Smiling and laughing increase the body's production of endorphins, which reduce pain. For these reasons, it is especially important to ensure visits of clowns to lonely seniors living in isolated regions.

As the holiday season approaches, the opportunity to meet clowns and forget the dreary everyday life for a moment is the best gift you can give to single seniors!
