Under the continuing economic crisis and growing unemployment conditions, the number of people in need of food assistance is rising. Currently, single parents and large families, where parents have lost jobs, and older people living alone are the most poverty stricken. Economic crisis especially affects low-income individuals. It is imperative, therefore, to find ways to help them meet their basic needs in these difficult times.
About the project: Food Bank is planning to expand the collection of food in Panevezys. The collected food will be used in charitable eateries, day-care centers, homeless centers, also in support of unemployed individuals, their families, and large families. In order for all the food collections to reach Food Bank it is necessary that the team has transportation to collect food items everyday from the food sellers and producers, sort them, pack them and distribute them to the Panevezys inhabitants who are most at risk.
