Currently, the diagnosis of cancer sounds like sentencing. Franciscan brothers, however, drawing on the Western European experience, bravely declare that the middle ages in the history of this illness have ended. They seek to dispel the prejudice that surrounds the various forms of this disease and to rally Lithuanian people to help their brothers and sisters who are suffering from this grave but curable disease.
About the project. The Franciscan brothers invite the public to come together for the noble goal to build St. Francis Oncology Center. The objective is to draw attention to the spiritual and psychological problems caused by cancer that create upheaval in the lives of cancer patients, their families and their relations.
Collected funds will be allocated to speed up the construction of the center and implementation of its mission. A significant amount has already been raised to build this center: various public organizations and governmental agencies actively support this project. Now is the time to rally all people of Lithuania – let’s help cancer patients and their families to overcome this disease. Together, let’s help our neighbors to turn their suffering into faith. This is part of our human experience and it provides meaning to our lives. In May, 2012 already the fifth “Race of Hope” was held.
St. Francis Oncology Centre built the first section. At the moment building of the second section is in progress. Further collected funds will be allocated to finish the second section of building and purhase all the necessary things for establishment (bedclothes, towels, dishes and etc.).
The Oncology Center has been started already – please donate for a brick or for several of them!
