For some, public transport in Lithuania is still a luxury, although it is only a service that meets basic needs. Until now, the vast majority of municipalities in Lithuania have adapted less than half of their public transport. Urban infrastructure and buildings are being updated little by little, but it will take decades before it is suitable for every inhabitant of the country. Mobility opportunities in Lithuanian cities and regions are limited, and in some cases so small that a very large part of Lithuanian society remains separated from external social and economic life.
Thanks to your support, Social Taxi will be able to purchase and launch a new car on the streets of Lithuania, with which it is planned to provide at least 2,000 trips per year to anyone whose mobility is limited due to illness, disability or age. For some, this service will help them get back into the workforce or further their education, for others, this service will help them not miss a doctor's appointment and take care of their health at the right time, and for others, this service will help them reconnect with their local community. Using the equipment purchased during the project, Social taxi assistants will help customers safely leave home, bypassing stairs and other infrastructure obstacles, and the improved electronic ordering system will make this service more accessible and convenient.
