Car accident, careless sports activities or just a slip on the ice can change a life and make a young, healthy and full of energy person disabled for the rest of his/her life. The disability for a young person is extremely scary – dreams about the future are crashed in a second, usually left by close people and fired by an employer. How to live further? Usually those young people are experiencing long-lasting depression, they close inside, some of them even commit a suicide.
Specially for youth with difficulties like these Maltesers created active rehabilitation camp “Move it” with the aim to help young people, who just recently became disabled. The camp will be attended by 20 young people, who are very weak physically with serious injury level, so in order to help them a professional team of 6 instructors and 18 volunteers was formed.
During the camp “Move it” young disabled people will receive:
• informative consultations and tips after certain spine injuries;
• practices to develop everyday wheelchair skills;
• individual weightlifting and aerobics practices;
• psychological support;
• social development, preparation for life after serious trauma;
• acting, art therapies;
• trips on wheelchairs in order to acquire wheelchair control skills in urban conditions.
Help these young people after experiencing a huge misfortune to get back to a normal life.
