Adoptive parents welcome children who have lost parental care, into their family, providing them not only with love and home, but also assuming financial and moral obligations. Nevertheless, although there are quite many adoptive families, they are still not inclined to cooperate with one another in seeking help for the child or for themselves. For this reason, the adoptive families’ weekend project invites changing the established rules.
The idea of the adoptive families’ weekend was born from the desire to encourage cooperation among adoptive parents and to provide them with emotional and psychological support. To create a safe space where it is possible to freely share experiences, doubts, joys, and challenges with other parents, lecturers, and specialists. Such a multi-day off-site event can become a great opportunity to strengthen the adoptive community, help families feel less alone, and not be afraid to talk about what they face in everyday life.
