The Association of Pediatric Endocrinologists (hereinafter VEA) was established in 2007 and unites doctors, nurses and psychiatrists health professionals working with children with various endocrine diseases.
The purpose of VEA is to unite persons working in the field of pediatric endocrinology in the Republic of Lithuania, to seek to coordinate and organize their activities, aimed at improving pediatric endocrinology services and patient care.
Tasks of the association:
1. to develop the science of pediatric endocrinology in Lithuania, to protect and develop the traditions of this science;
2. prepare and provide LR Health proposals to the Ministry of Defense and local health protection bodies in the organization of children activities of endocrinologists and preventive - therapeutic work in cases of children's endocrine diseases;
3. organize Lithuanian and international events of endocrinologists, help prepare and participate in those organized by other societies in events, the topic of which is related to pediatric endocrinology;
4. cooperate with Lithuanian state and public organizations, maintain friendly relations with endocrinologists of other countries, their societies and international organizations of endocrinologists.
VEA pays special attention to children with type 1 diabetes (hereinafter referred to as CD1). The association seeks
not only taking care of the child's physical well-being, but also developing a holistic approach to the minor with this disease: VEA emphasizes the importance of psychosocial support for the patient and his family. VEA aims to endocrine chronic diseases
minor patients and their parents would receive psychological and social assistance.
